Managing Remote Teams

FedEx has a training department with a group of trainers operating as a team across 3 continents. Their opportunities to meet together are rare and precious, so they need to make the best use of their time.  Every six months they have a 2 day team event. The head of the group wanted to make sure that in addition to dealing with practical details, such as agreeing how the team should be operating together, they also had time to continue their learning as a team.

The group's leader recognised that adding one of the GreenHouse Group's 90-minute learning modules to the agenda would be a good way of injecting some new ideas into the event. He selected one from the Remote Teams series on 'Building Trust'. The goal was to provoke some thoughts on how best the team could work together once they parted ways again.
